yes, We do have guidelines

While our activities are mostly light-hearted and fun, there is a business side to the smooth running of the branch. Our appointed and general committee members take their responsibility seriously to ensure the duty of care to our members and the constitution of the club is upheld.

Without the work and commitment that goes on in the background, the Mornington Wanderers would not exist, let alone grow.
We are fortunate to have a committee, both past and present, that is passionate about the branch’s success to maintain the enjoyment and safety of our members.

See the summary of guidelines below. For comprehensive guidelines, select the link below.

Club Guidelines

A prerequisite to joining the Mornington Wanderers is to be a current Ulysses Club member. If you are not a current member we can assist you in the process of joining. Click on the ‘Contact Us’ button.

  • You must be 40 years of age or older.
  • A current appropriate licence is required.
  • Members will observe all national and state traffic laws at all times.
  • Respect of fellow members to be observed at all times.
  • Attendance at club events and functions is encouraged.
  • You are required to be a current member of Ulysses Club Inc.

We do not promote or endorse any set rules for rides, however some guidelines and points of etiquette have proven useful.
Those who have been riding in group for a while (not just with Ulysses) will find them obvious and common-sense, whereas others relatively new to it should be able to take some value from them.

Although not compulsory, it is highly recommended, that you and your passenger wear appropriate clothing, gloves and footwear on the rides. This is for your own benefit and safety. Let’s face it, no one wants to crash but sometimes it is totally unavoidable and without the proper safety gear on, you will come off worse for wear. Comprehensive Ride Guidelines

  • Our rides are always lead by the Ride Leader.
  • The ride leader should not be overtaken by anyone during the ride except in exceptional circumstances.
  • At the back of the pack we always have a Tail End Charlie (TEC). TEC will remain at the rear of the ride to ensure no one becomes lost or left behind and to provide assistance to other riders as necessary.
  • We use the Corner Marking system. A Corner Marker is usually the rider immediately behind the Ride Leader. A corner marker will pull over where indicated and point to the following riders which direction to take.
  • Always arrive at the departure point with a full tank of fuel, or with enough time and money to refuel before the scheduled departure time.

The Mornington Wanderers welcome all Ulysses Club members, wether its to join our branch, or to simply come for a ride.
Membership of the Ulysses Club is open to any person who holds a current motorcycle licence.* We also welcome applications for membership from the spouse or regular partner (also aged 40 years and over) of a member.

There is only one kind of membership, full individual membership. However, riders with a Learners Permit will be accepted although conditions apply. We do welcome all types of bikes, in fact Trike Riders from a State that allows a Trike to be ridden on a car license, are also welcome to apply for membership. We also have club plate schemes in most states, for those historic bikes that so many members treasure.

  • Anyone age 40 and over is welcome to join.
  • A current appropriate licence is required.
  • Current Ulysses Club membership is required.
  • Our events are open to all members.
